Not so cool,ese!
Like many other unsolved mysteries in this world, one that leaves me the most exasperated, is why my generation, the “genX’ers”,the “millenials”,or however you may like to address them, feels entitled enough to be in complete denial that they are,in fact, not entitled at all. Now there are enough testimonies to the fact that not everyone in my generation is the same way, but enough of them are. Enough for creating an immensely fallacious reputation for ourselves. Enough for this issue becoming important to be addressed. Just enough, for our actions becoming important to be called out.
Let me add a little context to this.
Quarantine period called for schools as well as universities to resort to taking online classes on the ‘zoom’ app, fair enough. Now hey, let’s not pretend that any of us were taking those classes seriously, no matter how exciting it may have seemed initially. Anything which does not suit the likes of us, gets dissed by us. And so, crashing a friend’s online class seemed like a harmless way of creating a little unrest in these boring lectures, just to pepper a little humor. But I really, really didn’t find it funny when these prowlers started hurling abuses at the teacher giving the lecture. And not just random insults, I’m talking words that I still squint my eyes at the sound of. I was horrified, and I stared at the teacher’s face on my laptop, expecting her to say something out of rage and disgust. Instead, she paused for a moment and continued the lesson anyway. Maybe she didn’t hear, maybe she didn’t understand, or maybe she didn’t even want to validate that person with a response.

In any case, the said individual, after abusing his heart’s content, must’ve left the meeting feeling validated, that’s for sure. And why not? After all, he made so much of a difference in the professor’s life! So much of a difference in how his friends see him! And not to mention, so much of a difference in how he sees himself. He has an authority over everything that makes him feel that he’s inadequate, inside his own head. And so he abuses them, denies whatever they stand to offer, to make himself feel better. To make himself feel validated.
The generation that came before us may not be always righteous, but neither is ours. Put yourself in their shoes. Live a day in their lives. Having a little gratitude once in while does not hurt, trust me. Your parents are obligated, but not responsible for the way you turn out to be. Your teachers are obligated, but not responsible for what you turn out to be become. Being humorous is one thing, being immoral is another.
Well that's the side which i never saw, this blog has a deep and impactful message to deliver to our generation. Well said i totally agree with ur thoughts.
